COURT CLOSURE:
CONTINUES  REMOTE/VIRTUAL SETTINGS ONLY


Criminal District Court for the Parish of Orleans will conduct court proceedings remotely/virtually beginning immediately until further Order of this Court.   Individuals should access court proceedings by utilizing the section links on the Court’s website below. Bond defendants should contact their attorney and individual section of court for new court dates.

The  Building Election Polling Site (basement) scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2020 will proceed as normal.

EMERGENCY BUILDING CLOSURE

Criminal District Court for the Parish of Orleans building
​shall be closed immediately through Monday, November 23, 2020 unless further extended by Order of this Court. 
 
Criminal District Court for the Parish of Orleans will operate remotely/virtually during the building closure.  Individuals should access court proceedings by utilizing the section links on the Court’s website below. Bond defendants should contact their attorney and individual section of court for new court dates.


The Court received a report that one of the Court’s employees tested positive for Covid19. 
Due to the possible exposure, the Court immediately closed and will reopen on Monday, November 23, 2020.

 
The Court strongly encourages the public , employees and agencies that have visited the courthouse
​between Wednesday, November 4, 2020 through Tuesday, November 10, 2020 to consider testing and/or self-quarantining.

In accordance with Governor John Bel Edwards' declaration, Criminal District Court will be closed ​Wednesday, October 28, 2020 through Friday, October 30, 2020.  Court will reopen on Monday, November 2, 2020.

court proceedings will not be accessible via zoom courtroom due to the loss of cox cable internet services to the building.  the court is working diligently to resolve the issue.

COVID-19

CRIMINAL DISTRICT COURT REMAINS IN PHASE II
OF ITS CONTINUITY OF OPERATIONS PLAN
​EFFECTIVE MONDAY, JULY 6, 2020

In accordance with the proclamation of Governor John Bel Edwards and the City of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell's declaration and mandate, 
​
Criminal District Court will remain in Phase II of its Continuity of Operations Plan
effective Monday, July 6, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. 

The building will remain closed to the public until further notice.

Sections of Court will open daily, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
on a staggered court schedule.

Magistrate Court will operate on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.

Magistrate 2 through Magistrate 5 will operate at 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and weekends  via Zoom Courtroom.


Jury Trials have been suspended until further notice.

All Sections of Court will conduct business between the hours of 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM on their scheduled day of the week.
Magistrate will conduct business at 10:00 AM on Wednesdays and 3:00 PM daily and weekends.


The Building will be closed on Fridays for cleaning purposes.

​The Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, in anticipation of  Hurricane Marco and Tropical Storm Laura, will be closed Monday, August 24, 2020 through Wednesday, August 26, 2020.  
 



EFFECTIVE MONDAY, AUGUST 10, 2020 AT 5:30 P.M.

By Order of the Court En Banc, the courthouse will be CLOSED TO ALL PUBLIC AND COURT PERSONNEL until Monday, August 17, 2020 due to possible exposure to the COVID virus.

​The building, through efforts of Mayor Cantrell's administration, will be sanitized and disinfected on Friday, August 14, 2020.  

Courts will follow the previously approved schedule for remote Section Zoom hearings.

The bond window will be open and operating from its current location as scheduled.
