drug court case manager

Position Summary
The Drug Court Case Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of a participant’s progress through the Drug Court Program. This position coordinates treatment, monitors compliance, and supports rehabilitation through collaboration with judicial officers, probation, and community partners.
The Drug Court Case Manager reports directly to the Court Services Administrator.
 
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field (preferred)
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in counseling, social services, criminal justice, or a related field
Experience working with justice-involved populations preferred
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews and eligibility screenings using motivational interviewing
  • Supervise and maintain a caseload of Drug Court Program participants
  • Refer participants to treatment, counseling, education, employment, housing, and community resources
  • Keep all participant files organized, updated and maintained for program review and audit purposes, including TANF audits
  • Meet weekly with the Section Judge and Drug Court team regarding participant progress and compliance
  • Conduct weekly meetings with participants and document case notes
  • Appear in court for required status hearings
  • Collaborate with Department of Public Safety and Corrections probation officers
  • Maintain accurate records in the Reconnect Case Management System
  • Attend required trainings and professional development
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with law and court rules
  • Comply with all court policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of ethics and confidentiality standards
  • Proficiency with case management systems
 
Conditions of Employment
  • Subject to all Orleans Parish Criminal District Court policies
  • Required participation in ongoing and court-mandated training
  • Position is grant-funded and is contingent upon the continued availability of grant funding

Drug Court Peer Recovery Support Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Drug Court Peer Recovery Support Specialist reports directly to the Court Services Administrator and is responsible for developing formal and informal support for Drug Court Program participants, assisting in the development of goals, serving as an advocate, assisting with discharge planning and providing encouragement to Drug Court Program participants. [SS1] The Drug Court Peer Recovery Support Specialist must maintain the confidentiality of participant information in accordance with Title 42, Part 2 of the Code of Federal Regulations (42 C.F.R. Part 2) governing confidentiality of substance use disorder treatment records. Any information about program participants discussed at pre-court staffing is confidential and should not be discussed outside of the Drug Court team (Judge, Clinician, Case Manager, Probation & Parole).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist in the State of Louisiana- Office of Behavioral Health.
  • Previous involvement with the criminal justice system.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustained recovery of two years or longer.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of substance use disorders and mental health disorders.
  • Proficient written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to be creative and flexible within parameters of Specialty Court Program.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Works directly with Drug Court participants to support them in establishing social support systems and linking them to appropriate recovery supports.
  • Works productively with Drug Court staff to improve program engagement of Drug Court participants.
  • Coordinates with the Drug Court staff to help address any barriers for participants to achieving their stated goals and program expectations.
  • Shares personal recovery experiences and develops authentic, mutual peer-to peer relationships.
  • Offers instruction and support to help people develop the skills that will help them reach their own goals.
  • Supports participants in developing a network of support in the community.
  • Supports participants to take an active self-directing role in their recovery process.
  • Models personal responsibility and hopefulness through telling one’s recovery story and describing the tools and strategies that support recovery.
  • Maintains an awareness of Drug Court best practices.
  • Maintains accurate and up to date case notes in the case management system.
  • Position may require occasional after-hours work (attending virtual group sessions).

PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, excellent organizational skills and adept at Multitasking.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This is an office-based role requiring regular sitting (70%), standing (15%), and walking (15%).
 
SALARY & BENEFITS
This is a part-time position 20 hours per week.  Salary commensurate with background, experience and court budget guidelines.
