hurricane ida UPDATES

Criminal District Court for the Parish of Orleans shall be closed Tuesday, September 7, 2021 through Sunday, September 19, 2021 due to Hurricane Ida unless further extended by order of this Court.  The Court will continue to handle emergency matters during this closure.  Such matters should be directed to the individual section of Court via the Court's website section email link.  Please see the Order issued by this Court on today.

Criminal District Court for the Parish of Orleans shall be closed Tuesday, August 31, 2021 through Monday, September 6, 2021 due to Hurricane Ida.  Further updates will be posted to this site.

(New Orleans, La. August 27, 2021)
The Court will work closely with the City of New Orleans regarding openings and closures.
The public is asked to watch all media outlets for updated information.


If the conditions indicate that the Court needs to adjust the closing dates and times, notice will be posted on the Court’s website (www.criminalcourt.org), the Louisiana Supreme Court website (www.lasc.org), and in the news media.

**Magistrate Court will hold First Appearances Only at 3pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021 through Monday, August 30, 2021.

**All Defendants are excused from Court on Monday, August 30, 2021 due to inclement weather. Defendants must contact their Section of Court on the first day the court re-opens to obtain their new court date.
